Trip to Washington, D.C.
The eighth-grade class spent time in Washington, D.C., earlier this week. They immersed in the history of the United States as they toured the monuments, the Capitol and the Supreme Court, to name a few.
The highlight of the trip was when four students, nominated by their classmates, participated in the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. Tara Soria, Emily Kelley, Chris Germe and Loreto Iafelice were nominated by their classmates to represent Notre Dame Elementary School in this honored tradition.
4th-Grade Nutrition Study
NDES students are making healthier choices. Over the past few weeks, students have been learning about reading nutrition labels, food portions, nutritional needs and so much more. They are developing a plan for eating the recommended portions of food from each of the food groups.
The students took the time to evaluate some common foods to see how they would fit into their plans. The children are more aware of their choices, and a little surprised by what they are finding out.
