Venom, Slander, Lies

As a trustee who has publicly stated she is too busy to send or respond to my emails, let me thank you, Judy Caputo, for reaching out to me in your recent letter to the editor.

Your infrequent communications to me are typically filled with venom, slander and lies, and I see that you remain consistent in your approach in working with me.

While withholding and controlling information may give you a feeling of superiority, you are causing unnecessary damage to our township government, creating a stressful workplace for employees and failing the citizens of Chester Township.

Intimidating and berating people may in your mind be an acceptable management style, acquired during your career working for the disgraced Cuyahoga County Auditor, but please keep those kind of politics out of Chester Township. The people of Chester deserve better and come November I hope they get it.

Opportunity of a Lifetime

When I read the notice that Geauga County Jobs and Family Services was seeking tutors for our local schools, I never imagined it would turn out to be the opportunity of a lifetime.

I came to the school with the intention of helping students to learn, but in turn I became so much more the student. It was amazing to see the level of commitment and care shown by the staff and teachers whose connections with their students were nothing short of magic.

It was very encouraging to see that our students are invested in their educations and the level of respect and concern they show for each other can only be the result of solid and caring parenting.

And, while I learned that I can manage two to three hours of tutoring, I do not think I could be a teacher. As tough as I am, Im not that tough. It is too hard. Its like being on a Broadway stage every day, you are front and center, and you better be highly trained and prepared because you have a vital and active audience watching your every breath and deed. Students do not miss a trick.

I just want to commend the teachers, staff, students and parents of Burton Elementary.

Because everyone remembers that special teacher who made a difference in his/her life, now I can add Mrs. Walsh and Mr. Gardner to my list.
