Our Country, Our Rules

My parents came to America in 1961 after Castro, brutal tyrant extraordinaire and hero to the hood-winked, took control of Cuba.

They came legally; they worked; they paid taxes; and, they never took a dime of government assistance.

So, for the record, Ive got no problem with immigrants, as long as theyre law-abiding right from the get-go and become productive members of American society who actually wish to assimilate into our culture and speak our language (that would be English).

Consider now the present immigration issue: politicians have their suits in a wad (its a show, really) because something must be done immediately.

The feds have turned a blind eye to illegal immigration forever due to fear of losing votes its that plain and simple.

The immediacy now is in reality an opportunity: at the end of the amnesty rainbow is a pot of gilded newly-minted grateful voters for the upcoming elections.

No wonder weve now got so many Republicans supporting their supposed Democrat rivals; with most politicians, its about personal power, money and retaining their jobs. Representative government has nearly lost its battle with the self-interest cancer.

Mark Twain once said, Common sense isnt so common. Last I heard, we have Americans who need jobs; limited resources for health care and education; and an on-going war on terror (yes, there are still people out there actively trying to harm us).

Why open the flood gates indiscriminately to illegals? Anyone think amnesty will improve our problems?

My solution isnt novel: anyone foreign national who wants to come into or remain in the United States of America needs to go through the established legal processes.

Dont want to wait in line? Too bad ?this is our home, our rules and, thats how we do things around here, pardner
