Trying to Hide from Public

Once again his Honor Timothy Grendell has written a letter that seems to obfuscate and intimidate. His Honor uses the letter to divert attention from the real issue. The real issue is transparency and openness in government.

Is this letter a thinly veiled attempt at campaigning for his wife by trying to make Charles Walder look bad? It’s not working. These apparent attempts at intimidation in his letters show that he is seemingly trying to hide his activities from the public.

As the public becomes aware of the Auditor’s website detailing Grendell’s expenditures, it will grow increasingly angry at the judge’s profligate spending. If you want to know what I’m talking about visit the Geauga County Auditor’s Office webpage. The auditor is posting public records that apparently the judge does not want you to see.

We owe Charles Walder, county auditor, a big thanks for posting these public records and thus making them easier to find.

High Court Ruling Lens for Auditor’s Race

A recent review of the local press shows that the race for Geauga County Auditor will prove to be a spirited one to say the least. Fortunately, former Appeals Court Judge and Ohio State Rep. Diane Grendell is well suited to stay above the fray and restore confidence in an office which ought to be free from controversy.

It’s rare that a local political matter makes its way to the Ohio Supreme Court, but the current Geauga County Auditor’s use of funds came in to question before the Ohio Supreme Court just this February. In State ex rel. Grendell v. Walder, Slip Opinion No. 2022-Ohio-204, the Court ruled against current Auditor Charles Walder in a 7-0 ruling.

The unanimous Court stated the current Auditor Walder wrongly withheld money from the Geauga County Probate Court, including funds related to COVID notices and court operations. It was clearly poor judgment by the current Auditor to withhold the funds this long, at continued taxpayer expense, with the money released only after the Court’s order; and Diane Grendell is right to criticize the current Auditor’s actions.

The Supreme Court of Ohio ordering the current Auditor to do his job is a big deal. While other issues or personal attacks may come across the voter’s eyes and ears in the lead up to the election, rulings like this one by the Supreme Court will help the voter to sort out the clamor.

Whining Socialists

Last week, the Maple Leaf gave a page and a half to three whining socialists.

Mr. Webb attacks Republicans for wanting to protect voting integrity, but why would anyone feel comfortable with mailing their ballots using the U.S. Postal Service after witnessing all the problems at post offices around the country, some caught on security cameras, with handling mail-in ballots?

Does Mr. Webb also have a problem with being required to show proof of identification to prevent voter fraud? ls protection against fraud not the same reason that Mr. Webb must show his proof of identification at the bank when cashing a check, or at the BMV when renewing his vehicle registration?

Either Mr. Webb has bought into the narrative that the 2020 election was legitimate, or he is just another propaganda salesman for the Socialcrat party.

Secondly, there was Mrs. Webb, who infiltrated the Geauga County Tea Party so she could report back to her comrades at the Socialcrat headquarters. Only someone with their head in the sand would think that critical race theory is good. This is nothing more than a communist program designed to destroy our history and drive a wedge between race relations.

I’m sure her report to her comrades was full of accusations that the Tea Party was full of racists and white supremacists. What next Mrs. Webb? An invitation to speak at the Politburo in Washington? An interview on CNN?

Finally, there was Mr. Augustine from Parkman who is obviously green with envy of the Grendells. His is only one of the many senseless and baseless attacks against the Grendells, who have served the people of Geauga Country honorably for many years.

Despite enduring attack after attack on his character, Judge Grendell continues to serve the people of this county, and continues to serve them well. Mr. Augustine and the other Grendell-haters have still not managed to vote him out.

As for Mr. Augustine’s attack on Mrs. Grendell, he only managed to demonstrate his lack of class and the fact that he has no knowledge of all the good that Mrs. Grendell has done, not only for the people of Geauga Countv, but also for the people of Ohio.

Nice try, Mr. Augustine, but your socialist party narratives are empty. Our freedom and history are why I will always take a stand against the party of Saul Alinsky.
