New Parking Lot Installation
Your recent published letter to the editor (5.2.19) stated that I did not respond to anyone regarding the potholes at Northview Drive.
I was never contacted by Nancy or Dieter Huth. Not a call, not a letter, not an email.
As far as the Village of Middlefield stating that they could do nothing about this situation is also false. I have been working with the Village for months on plan submissions and approvals to improve drainage and replace the parking lot.
One call to the Village would have confirmed that repairs were scheduled.
In fact, the parking lot was removed and storm sewers installed starting on April 22, 2019, well before your publishing this letter.
We run our business in a responsible and professional manner.
We are requesting that you run a follow up letter or at minimum state that repairs had started prior to your article.
A new parking lot installation was finished May 6, 2019.

E- Cigarettes
In January 2018, the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine issued a comprehensive report on e-cigarettes, Public Health Consequences of E-Cigarettes. The committee identified and studied over 800 peer-reviewed scientific studies before writing the report. The research was classified incrementally beginning with no available evidence through conclusive evidence of consequences from e-cigarettes.
The report cites studies that show e-cigarette use by youth and young adults substantially increases their risk of ever using regular cigarettes. I also think it is important to highlight other areas of concern that are unique to e-cigarettes.
One of the reported outcomes was conclusive evidence of injuries and poisonings related to e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes can explode causing burns and other injuries. Data supporting this came from hospital burn centers and case studies.
Documentation of reported cases to poison centers of exposures to e-cigarette liquids provided conclusive evidence that ingestion of nicotine-containing e-cigarettes solutions can have serious health effects. Between September 2010 and February 2014 poison centers in the U.S. had 2,405 calls concerning exposures to e-cigarettes. Children age 5 or younger accounted for 51 percent of these calls. Ingesting liquid from e-cigarettes can result in seizures, anoxic brain injury, vomiting and lactic acidosis. The National Academies report also showed conclusive evidence that intentionally or accidently drinking or injecting e-liquids can be and has been fatal.

Take a Bow
A small but mighty army of Black Knights parents organized and orchestrated a phenomenal event for Newbury juniors and seniors. Prom was held at Generations Event and Reception Center in Chester Township. This was followed by bus transportation to Play:Cle for after prom.
Fundraisers and community school supporters raised over $4,000 in prizes for the juniors and seniors.
Parents, staff and administration were there throughout the events to ensure the night was memorable as well as safe.
This community pulled together to ensure these kids will make it to the next chapter in their lives, and had fun along the way. Everyone involved should be applauded.

Surprised
I was very surprised to see the Maple Leaf place an ad by a socialist next to a letter to the editor from the Geauga County Tea Party (GCTP). Intentional or not, the placement of the ad gives readers the impression the Maple Leaf was inferring to the GCTP as fascist.
There are many facets of fascism, including support for a large, dominating and intrusive government. These concepts are antithetical to the GCTP, which believes in liberty and freedom for all, and the Maple Leaf would do well to avoid the inference, intentional or not, the future.
