Supporting Ideological Opponents’ ‘Right to be Wrong’

The Geauga County Tea Party provided an article regarding our 10th anniversary celebration of the Tea Party movement which you published. Thank you.

Appearing, directly below our article, was “paid advertising” regarding fascism, from an unidentified party. It is unfortunate that the ad’s submitter lacked the integrity to identify themselves, as the specific placement of the ad may have caused some to wonder if there were a connection to the Geauga County Tea Party.

The Geauga County Tea Party officially disavows any connection with this unfortunately placed ad. While we fully support the First Amendment right to Free Speech and opinion of whoever placed the ad, we are appalled by the ignorance of fascism and naïveté that the ad’s content reveals. To the left, any opinion counter to theirs is termed “Fascism.”

While some focus on hurling insults and epithets, the Tea Party focuses on issues and educating the public. We are an organization open to all people, and open to public, civil debate.

The Geauga Tea Party supports the United States and Ohio constitutions and the Bill of Rights. These foundational documents and philosophy establish and maintain a representative Republic which is quite the opposite of a fascistic form of government. We have a deep and abiding respect for human rights, even for those of the unborn. We work hard at our jobs and are great neighbors.

We pay our taxes, though we urge governments at all levels to rethink their economic vitality-destroying over taxation and to realize that not all taxes and levies are vital.

We support the right to keep and bear arms and a strong military, as well as a secure border and fair immigration laws. We support the police and first responders. We think law and order is a very good thing! We are firm believers in our Almighty God.

It is unfortunate that in our society today we see those who will make statements attacking or perverting these core American beliefs. One can presume that the person making such statements is desirous of chaos in our civil society. They will yell, deny others their right to speak and physically attack their opponents, as we have seen numerous times on our college campuses.

Chaos taxes and overloads the system (witness our southern border). Chaos is essential to destroying a society, culture or nation’s freedom and is mandatory for leftist, fascist or any other totalitarian system to “progress.” Thus, statements and activities which foster chaos are indisputably tools of those who desire to establish tyranny, and do not come from conservatives.

We support the right to present differing positions and arguments in a civil way. We even support our ideological opponents’ “right to be wrong.” But our support and tolerance stops at our nose when a punch, either literal or literary is launched. Such a punch has, in effect, been launched.

While unlikely to occur, the Geauga County Tea Party would nevertheless welcome the submitter of the fascism advertisement to visit with us at one of our meetings and have civil debate and conversation on our differing ideologies and beliefs.

There has never been a successful long-term socialist state. To see this one needs only consider socialist Venezuela’s horrible decay and humanitarian crisis, and the Soviet Union’s collapse.

In stark contrast, our great American experiment of self-government, utilizing the free enterprise and capitalist system, and blessed by Almighty God, has produced the highest standard of living in the history of mankind. No wonder globalist-socialists are jealous!

It is worth note that both the communist Soviet Union and fascist Nazis were socialist states.
