Preparing Bees for Winter

Aug. 7, 6 p.m. 

Healthy winter bees must have winter stores and a low parasite load to make it through Ohio winters. Beekeeper Trish will walk participants through what to look for at inspections, how to avoid being fooled about their honey stores and how to help bees outwit the varroa mite.

Chair Yoga  

Aug. 13, 2 p.m. 

Join local yoga instructor Ann Vickers for a class in which postures are adaptations of traditional yoga poses which offer increased strength, flexibility, body and breath awareness and overall vitality.

Modern Gridlock Quilt 

Aug. 15, 10 a.m.

Create an easy, but fabulous modern quilt block with colorful fabrics. Bring eight different solid strips cut two and one-half inches wide across the width of the fabric. Everything else provided.

Rockefeller’s Cleveland

Aug. 18, 7 p.m.

Learn about Rockefeller’s tumultuous time as a Clevelander, including the lasting mark his philanthropic work left on the city and get to know the divisive figure who would become one of the richest men in the world. Presented by the Western Reserve Historical Society.

Microbe Wars

Aug.19, 6:30 p.m.

Over a century ago, tuberculosis, the Spanish Influenza and polio haunted the nation and Geauga County. Hear the stories of local people who lived during these harrowing times.
