The Auburn Career Center has received a $60,000 grant from the Jerome T. Osborne and Georgeanne S. Osborne Charitable Trust, intended to enhance the construction management program, school officials said in a Nov. 4 press release.

The funds, made possible through the Auburn Education Foundation, will be used to modernize and update equipment in the program’s lab, the release said.

Replacing the equipment, which is between 10-30 years old, continues to prepare students for the realities of modern jobsites by reflecting current technology and safety standards, ACC Superintendent Joe Glavan said Nov. 7.
“I am deeply grateful to the Osborne Trust for their generous support, which allows us to upgrade our construction program with modern equipment. This commitment will ensure our students train with the same tools and standards used in today’s growing workforce,” ACC Construction Instructor Corey DiRocco said Nov. 7.

The trust, which has been operating for three years, helps support Greater Cleveland organizations focused on education, with the trustees awarding grants based on what best reflects the values of Jerome and Georgeanne Osborne, the release said.

“We are so thankful for the Osborne Charitable Trust’s belief in Auburn’s mission and their continued support of educational opportunities that change lives,” Auburn Education Foundation Manager Laurie Principe said in the release. “This partnership allows us to strengthen programs that directly impact students, families and our local workforce.”

The grant is representative of community partnership with shared purpose, Glavan said in the release.

“We are deeply grateful for the Osborne family’s commitment to empowering education and workforce development in Northeast Ohio,” he added. “Their investment ensures that our students have access to modern tools, relevant training and real-world learning experiences that prepare them for success.”
