A taste of France may be in Chardon’s future after Chardon Planning Commission approved design plans for Crepes in the Country April 22.

The commission talked over the developmental plan for the restaurant, which is planning to open at 546 Water Street, during both the April 8 meeting and last Tuesday.

The restaurant would take over a formerly vacant building, according to meeting minutes, and there are a number of improvements planned, said Community Development Administrator Steve Yaney.

After its remodel, the building would have a “rustic, stucco, European-type look,” Yaney said, adding it would include 19 parking spaces and outdoor seating.

The stucco panels would be similar to fiber cement siding and would be beige with brown trim, and have matching shutters and doors, said architect Michael Tomsik.

The landscape plan presented April 8 was not finalized, as it only showed what currently exists on the lot rather than what was proposed, Vice Chair Mary Jo Stark said.

She said the commission needed additional information about the tree legend and plant list, as some of the plants may not have been suitable.

The planning commission approved a revised site plan with the requested information April 22.
