Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity is expanding its retail reach to Eastlake.
The nonprofit organization signed a lease for the 17,000-square-foot former Sears Hardware Store at 34225 Vine Street, Eastlake, to open a new ReStore.
Donated furniture, housewares, building materials, hardware, lighting and more are sold to the public at ReStores for a fraction of the original cost.
“The new store could be open in August if all goes as planned,” said Executive Director William Meyer.
The Eastlake store will be more than double the size of the Newbury store, which will remain open. As a result, the Eastlake store will need twice as many volunteers.
“We are looking for people who want to help their community by using their skills and who can dedicate four to eight hours a week to this exciting new venture,” said ReStore Director Meredith Ashkettle.
Volunteers are needed throughout the week to drive the truck and help load and unload donated merchandise, receive, test and clean the donated merchandise and price and arrange the items on the sales floor.
Also needed on Fridays and Saturdays are cashiers and register assistants as well as volunteers to assist customers on the sales floor.
The Lake County ReStore will initially have the same hours as Newbury’s: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
In addition to volunteers at the new location, donations will also be needed of goods to sell. To donate or volunteer at the ReStore, call 440-226-3212.
