APPEAL FOR VARIANCE TO THE  BURTON TOWNSHIP  ZONING RESOLUTION

Notice is hereby given that the Burton Township Board of Zoning Appeals will conduct a public hearing on an application for an appeal for a variance to the Burton Township Zoning Resolution on the 27th day of May 2025 at 7:00 o’clock p.m. at the Burton Township Administration Building, 14821 Rapids Road, Burton Ohio 44021

This application #1681-25, submitted by Deanna Cejer and Timothy Bravchok requests an area variance to the front setback of a storage shed. The variance request is for a 43’ setback from right of way (R.O.W.) 77’ variance and is located in front of the primary residence on the highest part of the property. They seek relief from Article IV, Section 401.1, Regulations for Accessory Buildings, Structure, and Uses In All Zoning Districts and Article IV Section 402.7, Minimum Yard Setbacks, of the Burton Township Zoning Resolution as amended August 14, 2019.  They asks that this be granted for the lot located at: 15930 Tavern Road in Burton Township Ohio, Parcel #04-036600.

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT FOR CRITERIA ENGINEER/ARCHITECT RFQ

West Geauga Local School District

The Board of Education of the West Geauga Local School District intends to contract for Criteria Engineering/Architectural services in connection with the construction of a new Water Treatment/Maintenance Building. The design-build delivery method will be used.  Firms interested in being considered for a contract to provide the required services should reply with a statement of qualifications no later than 3 pm on May 30th, 2025. Statements received after this deadline will not be considered.

Statements of qualifications should include information regarding the firm’s history; education and experience of owners and key technical personnel; the technical expertise of the firm’s current staff; the firm’s experience in performing engineering studies, design, construction administration, and construction observation; availability of staff; the firm’s equipment and facilities; references; and any previous work performed for West Geauga Local Schools.  

Statements of qualifications must be transmitted to: Scott Amstutz, Director of Instructional Technology and Operations, at 8615 Cedar Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026.

The services will be conducted pursuant to Ohio Revised Code §153.65-73. All responding firms will be evaluated and ranked in order of their qualifications. Following this evaluation, the West Geauga Local Schools will enter into contract negotiations with the most highly qualified firm.

Name of Project: Water Treatment Facility / Maintenance Building

Location: 8615 Cedar Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026.  Grounds behind the West Geauga Middle School on the Main Campus.

Description: Water Treatment Facility with Maintenance Building.  The water treatment facility must contain all necessary equipment directed and approved by the EPA criteria.  The building for both water treatment and maintenance should not exceed 10,000 square feet.   

Scope of Services: As properly authorized, provide all design professional and consultant services, including services in the following categories: Program Verification, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Document Preparation, Bid and Award Support, Construction Administration, and Post-Construction and Closeout services.

Total Project Budget (including but not limited to design and construction): $5,000,000 maximum.

Source of Funding: District will fund the project in full.  

Anticipated dates for design startup/completion : June 9, 2025 / July 18, 2025

Anticipated dates for construction startup/completion : On or before July 21, 2025 / April 27, 2026

 Special Requirements or Restrictions: Anticipate the Criteria Engineer/Architect will work with the West Geauga Water Engineer with specifics related to equipment (mechanical and electrical) and orientation of equipment (space and plumbing needs) to properly install and service the equipment.

NOTICE OF SECOND PUBLIC HEARING GEAUGA COUNTY CDBG PY2025 

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT  ALLOCATION GRANT PROGRAM

The Geauga County Board of Commissioners intends to apply to the Ohio Development Services Agency for funding under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, a federally funded program administered by the state. The county is eligible for up to $278,000 of PY 2025 CDBG Community Development Allocation funding, provided the County meets applicable program requirements. On March 11, 2025, the County conducted its first public hearing to inform citizens about the CDBG program, how it may be used, what activities are eligible and other important requirements. Based on citizens input, the County is proposing to undertake two of the following CDBG activities utilizing the Allocation Grant Funds:

1. Public Services, Lake Geauga Habitat for Humanity, total project cost of $56,000 with up to $36,000 in CDBG funding and $20,000 in match, National Objective-LMI-Limited Clientele

2. Public Facilities, Geauga County Department on Aging, total project cost of $189,000 with up to

$120,750 in CDBG funds and $68,250 in match, National Objective-LMI-Limited Clientele

3. Public Services, Chardon Township, total project cost of $100,000 in CDBG funds, National Objective- ADA Accessibility

4. Private Rehabilitation, Maple Leaf Community Residences, total project cost of $71,600 in CDBG funds, National Objective-LMI-Limited Clientele

5. Public Services, Burton Public Library, total project cost of $223,677 with $150,000 in CDBG funds and $73,677 in match, National Objective-ADA Accessibility

6. Public Services, Geauga County Agricultural Society, total project cost of $97,100 in CDBG funds, National Objective-ADA Accessibility

7. Private Rehabilitation, DDC Clinic for Special Needs Children, total project cost of $178,250 in CDBG funding, National Objective-LMI-Limited Clientele

The following are required administrative allocations to the County:

General Administration, $41,800.00, to administer the CDBG projects PY2025 CDBG Community Development Allocation Grant Funds.

Fair Housing Administration, $10,000, to implement the County’s Fair Housing Program, PY2025 CDBG Community Development Allocation Grant Funds.
