Immediate changes are few for customers of the Middlefield Banking Company after the homegrown institution officially merged with Farmers National Bank of Canfield.
Farmers announced on March 2 the paperwork for the merger is complete. Integration of the two banks is expected to take place between Aug. 20-24, according to both institutions’ websites, which provided the following instructions for customers.
Geauga County residents who use Middlefield Bank will not have to replace their debit cards and they may continue using their Middlefield Bank checks. After August, new checks should be ordered through Farmers National Bank.
“Middlefield customers should continue to bank at their regular branch location. On August 24, 2026, customers will be able to bank at all 83 Farmers National Bank locations,” Middlefield Bank’s FAQ page said, noting customers can use ATMs at those locations without paying any ATM surcharge fees starting the first week of March.
Other virtual services will continue to be available. Customers will be notified well in advance of any changes required by the account conversion, and those affected by an account number change will receive separate notification.
“Starting on Aug. 24, you will need to login to the Farmers National Bank online banking platform on the Farmers website,” according to Farmers National Bank.
Loan customers will continue to make payments as usual, but individuals who have credit cards through Middlefield Bank will not be able to pay at the counter. Instead, the bank is asking all credit card payments be mailed to TCM Bank, N.A., P.O. Box 6818, Carol Stream, IL 60197-6818, or paid online at MyCardStatement.com.
On or after Aug. 24, customers who receive direct deposits to their checking accounts should update their employer payroll records with FNB’s routing number, 041209080, according to Farmers National Bank.
Customers are encouraged to visit Middlefield Bank and Farmers National Bank websites for more information.
