Park Board Appointments
Individuals interested in serving on the Geauga Park District Board of Commissioners, Chester Township Park Board or Russell Township Park Board should submit a letter of interest and resume to the Geauga County Probate Court no later than Dec. 14.
Interested parties should submit such requests to Judge Timothy J. Grendell, Geauga County Probate Court, 231 Main St., Ste. 200, Chardon, OH 44024.
One seat on each board is up for appointment.
Lynch Honors Military KIAs
State Rep. Matt Lynch, R-Bainbridge Township, along with other members of the 129th Ohio General Assembly, recently participated in a joint convention to present the Ohio Military Medal of Distinction to the families and friends of 31 service members who have died while serving their country.
Included in the ceremony was CW2 Christopher R. Thibodeau, from Chester Township, an Army soldier who was killed May 26, 2011.
The Ohio Military Medal of Distinction was created in Senate Bill 248 of the 127th Ohio General Assembly to honor the sacrifice of Ohio’s fallen service members and their loved ones on behalf of the state, Lynch said.
General Assembly convenes annually to honor fallen servicemen, he added.
Participating in the presentation were Ohio House Speaker William G. Batchelder, Ohio Senate President Tom Niehaus, Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and Brigadier General Mark Stephens.
“It is important and appropriate that we honor our fallen heroes such as Christopher Thibodeau, who gave his life so that we at home could be free,” Lynch said.
