Rummage Sale With A Twist

Bainbridge Community United Church of Christ is holding a rummage sale with a twist April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be no prices on any items; purchase items by donation only.

The church is located at 17751 Chillicothe Road, Chagrin Falls.

Polka Concert at The Pines

Jake Kouwe from the Chardon Polka Band will provide an evening of high energy polka on May 16 from 7-8 p.m. at the Pines at Brooks House Assisted Living located at 18122 Claridon-Troy Road, Hiram, in Troy Township. Refreshments will follow.

Common Core Info Meeting

An informational meeting on the Common Core State Standards that all public schools are now required to follow will be held at 7 p.m. May 7 at Chardon Christian Fellowship, 401 South Hambden St.

Guest speaker is Melanie Elsey of the American Policy Roundtable. Registration is not required for the free event.

Geauga Safety Council

Geauga Safety Council will award winners for excellence in safety and health management by local businesses at its seventh annual CEO event May 3 at the Grandview Inn.

Steve Kovatch from Compliance Technologies will speak on the CEO’s role in environmental, health and safety compliance.

Come Fly With Us Kite Festival

Celebrate the 13th annual Come Fly With Us kite festival on April 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Overlook Park on State Route 168 in Parkman Township. There will be demonstrations provided by Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites (OSEK), a make-it, take-it workshop and kite sprint races for all ages. A wide variety of kites will be available for sale. Refreshments will be available.

Geauga Fresh Farmers Market

The Geauga Fresh Farmers’ Market will start its 12th season on May 11 in South Russell Village parking lot at the corner of Route 306 and Bell Street. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday, rain or shine, until early October.

Master Gardeners from the Ohio State University Extension Service will be on hand to answer questions about growing seedlings and vegetables.

Special events this season will include cooking demonstrations, kids’ day, corn celebration, strawberry events, the annual salsa tasting contest and the annual tomato tasting contest.

Auburn Spring Plant Sale

Students enrolled in Auburn Career Center’s Landscape Horticulture program will be holding their annual spring plant sale starting on April 29 and ending when all plants are sold. A wide variety of plants and Proven Winners hanging baskets will be available.

Auburn’s horticulture building and greenhouse are at 10985 Girdled Road, right behind the high school. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 12-2 p.m.

The Chardon VFW Ladies Auxiliary is having a rummage sale on June 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Chardon VFW across from Sage’s Apples. There will be no furniture or adult clothing.

Kidsfest May 4

The ninth annual Kidsfest will take place on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road, Chesterland. Kidsfest will feature countywide information and services to families along with hands-on activities, entertainment, door prizes and refreshments. Meet miniature horse Rick O’Shay, Geauga’s newest deputy sheriff, from 10-11 a.m. Entertainers include Jasmine Dragons, Spitunia the Clown, Casey the Balloon Guy and guest appearance by the Cat in the Hat.

Relay For Life Wine Tasting

American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Chardon, Team Kinetico is sponsoring a wine tasting event on May 3 at Pattersons Fruit Farm at 11414 Caves Road in Chesterland. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Berkshire Spaghetti Dinner

The Berkshire After Prom Committee is holding a spaghetti dinner April 26 from 57 p.m. in the Berkshire High School cafeteria.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 per person. There will be a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction for several beautiful baskets.

After dinner, guests can attend the spring musical, Seussical the Musical.

Spring Chicken Dinner

The Parkman Fire and Rescue Association in conjunction with local Amish schools will hold their annual spring chicken dinner May 3 from 5-8 p.m. at the Community House in Parkman, next to the Fire Station.

Cost is $14 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Limited tickets; presale tickets only. Arts Festival Seeks Artisans

The Downtown Mantua Revitalization Corporation (DMRC) will be hosting its fifth annual “Art on the Hill” event and is seeking artisans to sell and/or display their handmade work. The festival is July 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on East Prospect Street.

The event attracts more than 70 artisans and local area eateries along with live, continuous entertainment, raffles and a wine tasting event.
