Battles said Sunday morning the man, 62, had climbed up his grain elevator at 7140 Clay St. to clear a jam of corn. When the elevator started moving again, his right foot was caught.

The man called 9-1-1 on his cell phone and Thompson EMTs responded shortly after 5 p.m. He was released by 5:52 p.m. and flown by emergency helicopter to University Hospital in Cleveland with hypothermia and crush injuries to his right leg, Battles said, adding the man was expected to be released today.

Middlefield, Concord and Leroy fire departments assisted in the rescue.
