Andrew J. Melzer

CHARDON – Andrew J. Melzer, of Chardon, passed away Sept. 18, 2015, at his home. He was 48.

Born Sept. 26, 1966, in Cleveland, to Richard G. and Adele (nee Niewulis) Melzer, he had been a lifelong Chardon resident.

Andy, a successful businessman, was the VP of Melzers Fuel Service in Painesville.

He retired from the Chardon Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of Chardon F.O.E. 2261 and the VFW Men’s Auxiliary Post 6519.

Andy loved camping, traveling, working and “visiting” with his friends.

His greatest joy was spending time with his friends and family, especially his son.

Andy will be greatly missed by his mother, Adele (nee Niewulis) Melzer, of Chardon; son, Andrew J. “Drew” Melzer II, of Chardon; brother, Richard G. (Janet Pentek) Melzer II, of Chardon; longtime partner, Barb Prinkey, of Chardon; and his mountain of friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard G. Melzer; and numerous extended family.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sept. 24 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 25 at the Church of St. Mary, 401 North St., Chardon.

Donations are suggested to the Chardon F.O.E 2261, VFW Post 6519, Chardon Fire Department or a local charity of your choice.
