Ann Cherie Doersam

Born Feb. 27, 1934, to Edmund Fredrick and Ellen Minnie (nee Huff) Wettstein in Cleveland, Ohio, Ann grew up and lived her life in Chardon, Ohio. She graduated from Chardon High School, in 1951, where she was a cheerleader, played the French horn and participated in musical productions. She worked at Wettstein’s Bakery on Main Street after school.
Ann married Justin Doersam on Sept. 12, 1954. They had two daughters and built a home in Chardon, where she lived for 61 years. She loved working in her yard and home and raising her family. She enjoyed traveling and visited her daughter, Cherie, in Atlanta frequently. She loved keeping mementos from everywhere she went.
She started playing piano and then organ at a young age and played the organ at Pilgrim Christian Church for over 50 years, retiring in 2024 at the age of 90. She enjoyed a beautiful retirement luncheon at the church and a wonderful family dinner to celebrate. She also played the organ at different times for Old South Church in Kirkland and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Chardon.
Ann taught piano lessons in her home to many Chardon students. Several went on to become music majors in college. She also played for countless weddings, funerals and school musical programs. She had a beautiful voice and sang for weddings and was in many productions including “The Messiah.”
She earned an Associate of Arts degree at Lakeland Community College.
