Anthony L. McHugh

Anthony L. McHugh, age 88, of Munson Township, died peacefully at Ohman Family Living at Blossom in Huntsburg Township.

Born April 20, 1935, to Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Dailey) McHugh, in Kingston, Pa., he was raised in Larksville, Pa.

Tony and his family moved to Munson Township in 1985 for a job in Painesville. He was a chemist and plant manager for Obron Atlantic Corp., retiring in 2004. He held a Master’s Degree in Chemistry and also an MBA in Business Administration.

Tony proudly served in the U.S. Army, serving stateside. In his retirement, he was a ranger at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course for 13 years until the pandemic. He enjoyed Notre Dame football, golf, gardening, boating and model trains. His greatest joy was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn (nee Pyryt) McHugh, of Munson; children, Evelyn (Tom) Siu, of Munson, Anthony (Patricia) McHugh, of Lebanon, N.J., Tom (Joanne) McHugh, of Aurora; grandchildren, Tyler, Lt. Thomas L. (Sarah) Siu, JAGC, USN, Ethan and Connor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; and sister.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, from 4-7 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by the burial at Maple Hill Cemetery, Munson.

The family suggests donations be made to the Veterans Food Pantry, 13211 Aquilla Road, Suite B,  Burton, OH 44021; or Burton American Legion Post #459, Elevator Fund, 14052 Goodwin St., Burton, OH 44021.
