B. Marie Wilmot

B. Marie (nee Luoma) Wilmot, age 75, fell asleep in death on April 23, 2026, at Ohman Family Living at Briar, surrounded by her loving family.

The beloved daughter of Wayne and Coralyn Luoma, Marie was born June 30, 1950, in Chardon, Ohio. After growing up in Burton, Ohio, she resided in Claridon Township, Ohio, for almost 50 years, where she lived contentedly in the welcoming home that she and her husband built.

From an early age, Marie’s faith was central to her life. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Feb. 13, 1965, at the Chardon Kingdom Hall, which began a lifetime of faithful service. As a diligent student of the Bible, she exhibited deep love and compassion for others.

In 1969, Marie married Dennis. He fondly called her “Lady,” a nickname she truly embodied through her grace, dignity and elegance. Known for her quiet strength and courage, she modeled humility and kindness toward others.

Her devotion to service carried over to her career. After completing her education at Berkshire schools, Marie later earned a degree in Human Services. From 1983 to 1994, she worked at WomenSafe, supporting survivors of domestic violence.

She continued her work of caring for others from 1998 to 2014 as a crisis line ‘angel’ for Geauga’s COPELine, providing reassurance, referrals and resources to callers in distress, while also mothering and monitoring residents at the residential care home.

The ultimate nurturer, Marie poured herself into rearing her treasured daughters, Elisabeth (Jim) Tartaglia and Bridget Wilmot (Chris Malensek). She devoted herself to her children and selflessly created the foundation for their lives. Her loving presence and empathetic listening brought comfort and joy to them and she will be lovingly remembered for her loyalty, intelligence and fortitude.

After raising their children, Marie and Dennis were eager to expand their ministry together. Always a dedicated student, Marie enthusiastically took on the challenge of learning Spanish and began attending the Spanish language congregation in Painesville, Ohio. For 25 years, she and Dennis enjoyed their volunteer spiritual outreach to the Spanish-speaking community and she treasured the close friendships she formed within their congregation.

Befitting her inquisitive nature, Marie also loved the adventure of traveling. She journeyed to Europe shortly before she married Dennis and, almost 40 years later, they toured the castles of the Loire Valley in France and attended an international convention of fellow Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She also cherished memories of visiting Italy with her family and spending time on her beloved Sanibel Island in Florida.

Marie is survived by her husband; two daughters and sons-in-law; mother; two brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.

Marie was sustained by the Bible’s promise for a future here on Earth without sickness, old age or death (Revelation 21:3,4). Her strong faith comforted her through times of ill health and other challenges and she was fond of saying, “This, too, shall pass.”

Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., at the Cardinal Elementary School, 16175 Almeda Drive, Middlefield, with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Original Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com.
