Bethal Jean Zamer

Bethal Jean Zamer passed away peacefully at the age of 79 on Dec. 14, 2025, at Western Reserve Hospice in Cleveland, Ohio, following a cerebral vascular accident.

With no children of her own, Bethal’s final days were faithfully attended by the calls and presence of cherished nieces and nephews such as Lisa Crook, Leslie Chute, Logan Walker, Richard Potts, Georgia Puzder and Rhonda Gamber, as well as the attentive concern of her loving neighbors and nieces and nephews who helped and delighted her regularly in her final years, Peyton Chute, Micah Bernardo, Haylee Bernardo, Vincenzo Bernardo, Noah Gamber and Joshua McClintock.

Bethal was preceded in death by her loving spouse of 42 years, Robert Zamer; sister, Judy Simmons; nephews Robert Simmons, Scotty Simmons, Rodney Simmons and Jeff Neely; as well as her parents, Arnold and Helen McClintock.

The third of eight children, Bethal grew up in Thompson and Montville townships in Northeast Ohio. She graduated from Ledgemont High School in 1964.

Beth was passionate about cats, deer and cardinals and loved watching the moon, the rising and setting sun as well as birds in flight.

She is survived by siblings, Joan Neely, Ross McClintock, Bonnie Burk, Ron McClintock, Pam Korovich, Carol Kendl; sister-in-law, Susie Givens; and innumerable nieces, nephews, cousins and Patches, her cat, whom she adored.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Montville Cemetery.

Jakubs-Waite Funeral Home, 36000 Lakeshore Blvd., Eastlake, Ohio, is handling arrangements.
