Bradley Reef Bliss, LISW, MSW

CHESTER TWP. – Bradley Reef Bliss, LISW, MSW, age 84, of Chester Township, went to be with his Lord on Dec. 5, 2020. He died peacefully in his sleep at his home. He was under hospice home care.

He was born in Cleveland, on Oct. 10, 1936, to Reef and Maude Bliss.

Brad leaves two brothers, Thomas G. Bliss and Alan J. Bliss, Ph.D., both of Florida.

Brad was a graduate of Wickliffe High School, Ohio University and Wayne State University.

He married Nancy Stryker Anderson from Huron and they started their family —  Rebecca, Wendy and Matthew — in Cleveland Heights.

Brad was a family counselor with Human Affairs Inc. and Aetna. He enjoyed helping people with their problems.

In 1970, he found the Lord and became a born-again Christian, (John 3:16). He and his family attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church for 18 years. He enjoyed being a deacon and elder there.

In 1988, Brad moved to Chesterland and attended Little Church in The Vale. He served as elder for several years.

Brad was soft spoken, a gentleman with old school manners. Always a scholar, he enjoyed taking classes in interesting subjects at Case Western Reserve University over the years. He also enjoyed classes with Moody Bible Institute.

He was a naturalist, with a love of walking, and an animal lover, especially his dogs.

Brad and Nancy were married 56 years. When asked their secret, he always said, “We both had a wonderful sense of humor.” From an old World War II song from Nancy to Brad, “I’ll be seeing you again my love, I know where just not when.”

Brad leaves behind his children, Dr. Rebecca Bliss, married to Dr. Bryan Hosack, and their children, Devna, Ezra, Anna and Shoa; Wendy, married to John Jackson, and their children, Sophia and Savannah; and Matthew, married to Deborah Lucas, and their children, Hunter Reef and Grant Lucas. Matthew died of kidney CX 2017.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Little Church in The Vale.
