Catherine M. Johnson

Catherine “Kay” M. Johnson, age 88, of Bonita Springs, Fla., passed away peacefully on Jan. 4, 2026, at her residence following an extended illness.

Kay was born on Nov. 19, 1937, in Kenton, Ohio, a daughter of the late Thomas and Ruby (née Hines) Mulligan. She spent much of her life in Ohio before becoming a winter resident of Bonita Springs in 1985, when she and her husband purchased their home in Bonita Bay. In 2005, Bonita Springs became her permanent home.

Kay was a graduate of Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business.

She was dedicated to service and generously volunteered at Geauga County Hospital.

After relocating to Florida, she was a member of Bay Presbyterian Church in Bonita Springs and participated in the church’s Bible study group. Kay also greatly enjoyed investing and spending time with her friends through an investment group.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joe L. Johnson; her two daughters, Tracey L. Sabransky and her husband, Ken, of Russell Township, Ohio, and Karen S. Johnson, of Palm City, Fla.; her two cherished granddaughters, Kelly Sabransky and Amy Sabransky; and her sister, Margaret Renshler and her husband, Ken, of Columbus, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 1-3 p.m., at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home, 28300 Tamiami Trail South, Bonita Springs, Fla. A service will be held at 2:30 p.m., with Pastor Patrick Womack of Bay Presbyterian Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations in memory of Catherine be made to the Cure PSP at www.PSP.org.
