Elaine Elizabeth Gross

Elaine Elizabeth Gross, formerly Cormiea (nee Hunter), passed away peacefully Jan. 19, 2024, in Newbury Township.

She was born on May 22, 1935, to William and Alexandrina “Irene” (nee Munnock) in Cleveland, where she was raised and later married to Clarence C. Cormiea Jr., in 1957. Together they embarked on a journey that led them to the Chardon area, where they raised four children and created a home filled with warmth and cherished memories.

Elaine was a beacon of joy during the holidays, where she reveled in the gathering of family and friends. She adored being the center of attention and brought laughter and merriment to every occasion. Her love for music and dancing was infectious, and she had a talent for making every moment special.

Her greatest joy in life, however, was found in caring for her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Elaine’s nurturing spirit and unconditional love created a legacy of warmth that will endure for generations.

Elaine is survived by her children, Scott (Sharon) Cormiea, of Chardon, Mark Cormiea, of Hambden Township, Lynn (Robert) Lax, of Hiram, and Holly Cormiea, of Chardon. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each a testament to the love and devotion she showered upon her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence Jr., in 1992; and second husband Bob Gross, in 2022.

Visitation will be held at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon, on Jan. 23, 2024, at 10 a.m., with a service beginning at 12 p.m. Interment immediately following at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon Township.
