Frank Charles Piras
Frank Charles “Bud” Piras, of Chardon, born April 26, 1935, passed away on July 26, 2025. He lived his life in Geauga County and was married to Norma (nee Carver) for 70 years.
Bud’s career was in construction and he helped build schools, the public library and Geauga Hospital. He and his brother Ray built several homes in Geauga County.
He was a 68-year member of Local #16 Bricklayers-Tile and Marble Setters Union. He was also a 74-year member of Geauga Aerie #2261 Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Pennsylvania. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and trap shooting. Over the years, Bud and Norma took road trips to Canada, Alaska, Florida, Arizona, and annual visits to their daughters’ homes in Texas and California.
Bud is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Julie (John) Laird, Ann Phelps, James Piras Sr. (Lynn) Mary (Robert) Kolcum; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brother, Raymond; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Vodraska Piras; daughter Kathleen Kellums; and sisters Marie Leyde and Ruth Craig.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, in Chardon, where a funeral mass will be held on Aug. 4, 2025, at 10 a.m. Visitation is at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Hambden Cemetery.
