Frederic Michael Samardge

Frederic “Fred” Michael Samardge was born on Dec. 14, 1942, in Cleveland, to Nicholas and Rose (née Zotlar) Samardge. On April 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, he passed away peacefully in his home in Chardon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Nicholas, Ronald and James Samardge.

Fred devoted his career to Reliance Electric, in Euclid, where he was a valued employee for over 35 years. During that time, he served in numerous positions. His steadfast work ethic and deep technical knowledge left a meaningful legacy among his colleagues.

Fred had many interests outside of work. He was an avid walleye and bass fisherman, with an impressive collection of awards. As president of the Erie Shore Bass Masters fishing club, he shared his love of the sport and built lifelong friendships.

He was an exceptional golfer who achieved the rare feat of three holes-in-one, all noted in the local papers. He loved camping, movies and all types of music. Fred was an animal lover who welcomed both dogs and cats into his home throughout the years.

Fred had an unwavering sense of humor and a knack for bringing smiles to those around him. He delighted in performing magic tricks for family and friends. He also enjoyed a good game, whether it was cards, bowling or a board game. His quick wit, playful spirit and love of laughter were constants throughout his life and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Fred was also deeply spiritual and held God close to his heart. He was a prayerful man who cherished his holy rosary and found great comfort and strength in his faith.

Above all, Fred loved his family deeply. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca (née Blazer) Samardge, of Chardon; his children, Karen (Greg) Palgut, of Broadview Heights, Cheryl (John) Selesky, of Garrettsville, Joanna Samardge, of Seven Hills, Megan Lockhart, of McLean, Va., and Matthew Samardge, of Chardon. He was blessed to have four grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.
