Frederick William Bemberg

BURTON TWP. – Frederick William Bemberg, age 89, of Burton Township, died on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at his home.

Fred was born in Providence, R.I., on March 1, 1933, to Hans and Anneliese (nee Seybold) Bemberg.

He was a graduate of the Michigan State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. He then worked for Weyerhaeuser Lumber in Washington State until called to serve in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 21, 1957, to March 11, 1962.

He married his wife Jennie Roush, in Columbus, on July 7, 1973.

Fred’s work always involved lumber, including as a co-owner and manager of Trusco in Middlefield, in 1979, where he worked for over 30 years.

He was also an active member of the Burton-Middlefield Rotary Club since 1982.

He and his wife founded the Fred and Jennie Bemberg Endowed Chair for Medical Oncology at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center.

Fred’s wife, Jennie, will host a visitation for friends on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 4-5 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 116 South St., Chardon, with a Celebration of Life service at 5 p.m.
