Geraldine Edna Heck
Geraldine Edna “Gerri” Heck, age 82, passed away peacefully Nov. 28, 2023.
She was the beloved daughter to the late Harold and Edna Pekrul; sister to Eileen Rogers (Peter); aunt to Paul Rogers, Robert Rogers (Kelly) and Cindy McCain (Isaac); great-aunt to Cassia, Maximus, Benny, Ruthie, Sammy and Zoe.
Gerri became a teacher for Newbury Schools and taught fourth grade for most of her career. In the midst of her teaching career, Gerri began working as an assistant to the Russell Township fiscal officer. When given the opportunity, she took over the position as fiscal officer. With her years of experience and dedication, she was resourceful and often consulted to better the community. She continued to serve Russell Township after retiring from her teaching career.
In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, spending time and sharing meals with her family, and was a devoted “mother” to her dogs and cats.
She always wanted the best for her family and never stopped nurturing and teaching them as they grew up. She continued to touch many hearts during her stay at Holly Hill. Her generous and caring heart will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be held at Chesterland Baptist Church, 12670 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Celebration of Life Service will begin promptly at 12 noon at the church.
Gerri will be laid to rest at Riverview Memorial Park of Russell Township.
