Gilbert F. Bryant
HAMBDEN TWP. – Gilbert “Gib” F. Bryant, of Hambden Township, went to be with his Savior on March 1, 2015, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center surrounded by family. He was 86.
Born on Oct. 11, 1928, in Avella, Pa., to Massie and Elsie (nee Wolford) Bryant, he had been a longtime area resident.
Gib served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a lifelong member of the Second Indianhead, 9th Division.
He was a longtime employee of Chardon Rubber and an active member of Concord Alliance Church.
Gib enjoyed traveling, but he was happiest when surrounded by friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Martha (nee Vandevander), of Hambden; daughters, Charlotte (Bruce) Kantz, of Chardon, Debra (Al) Almasi, of Concord Township, Tina (Wesley) Collins, of Rock Creek, Angela (Dan) Ferron, of Painesville, and Cora (Bob Spike) Bryant Dietz, of Burton; son, Dennis (Susan) Bryant, of Painesville; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister Thelma Melton, of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Florence Hilker, Massie Bryant Jr., Violet Butcher and Elsie Jane Zappi; and grandson Benjamin Kempton.
Visitation will be March 4, from 5-8 p.m., and March 5, from 10-11 a.m., at Concord Alliance Church, 7152 Ravenna Road, Concord. The entrance to the church is on Concord-Hambden Road.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. March 5 at the church, with burial to follow at Hambden Township Cemetery.
