James Russell “Cricket” Park, a lifelong resident of the Chardon area, died at his home on his birthday, after a long illness.
He was born in Chardon, to Harold E. and Patricia (nee Nolan) Park, on June 5, 1948.
He was a Spec 4 in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam following his time in Chardon High School.
Cricket Park was a mighty force in this world. He will be greatly missed. Fondly remembered as illustrious stories are told of him, by all that met him, and all that loved him.
He was a loving and extremely colorful man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. He was a multi-faceted man . . . we think of him as a genius that was just not formally introduced! He was strong with a peaceful introspect at the end days of his life. His spirit left us gracefully.
Cricket Park was a blessed man. In his heart, he knew that. We will miss him immensely. We will remember him in love. Rest in peace my dear husband and in His grace.
His loving family includes his wife, Laura (nee Neubert), whom he married on Dec. 31, 1986; daughter, Patricia Yvonne Burnett, of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-son Don Fraser; step-daughter, Kelley Mirra ,of Cleveland; step-son Ken Smullen, of Orwell; grandchildren, Chloe Burnett, Hannah Mirra-Smith, Joshua Mirra, Zachary Kudroff, Madeline and Julian Fodor; great-grandaughter, Marcelina Mirra-Smith; sisters Kathleen Hill, of Chardon, and Sandra (Mitch) Frania, of Highland Heights; brothers, Tom (Deborah) Park and John (Gail) Park, both of Chardon; and scores of nieces and nephews.
