Jan Southwick
Janice Luellen Leonard Southwick received her promotion to ancestor on Sept. 17, 2025, aged 76 years.
Jan was many things to many people, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, cousin and cherished friend. All who knew her loved her.
She was happiest when surrounded by nature, riding through snowy forests on horseback, watching sunsets on the beach or walking her beloved dogs through the park. She delighted in observing life around her, feeding the neighborhood birds and squirrels, smelling the night-blooming jasmine in her yard and watching the local sandhill cranes raise their hatchling all the way from egg to fledgling.
Jan was always active, working hard and making life better for those around her.
She loved movies, TV shows and connecting with family and friends, whether through phone calls, cards or Facebook. She loved creating traditions with her family, breakfast dates with her husband, lunch with her daughters or playing board games and Playdoh with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Jan is survived by her husband, John Bradley Southwick; daughters, Shanon Michaud (Thomas) and Valori Chatham; grandchildren, Jordan Edwards, Jeremy Lima and Dakar Long; and great-grandchildren, Bailey Edwards, Harmony Collins, Lorelei Long and Lincoln Delzingaro-Long.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis A. and Ermil Leonard; brother, David Leonard; mother-in-law, Lily Jean Southwick; father-in-law, John A. Southwick; son-in-law, David Chatham; and great-granddaughter Constance Clark.
In lieu of flowers, Jan wished for donations to be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
Jan, (Ma), until we meet again! Thank you for being a friend!
