Jeremy Patterson

Jeremy Patterson, of Lake Asbury Township, Green Grove Springs, Fla., left for his Heavenly home on April 21, 2022.

Born on Feb. 12, 1977, in Bowling Green, Ohio, to Michael and Yvonne Patterson, Jeremy was 45 years old at the time of his departure.

At age 18, on May 23, 1995, shortly before he was to graduate from Cardinal High School, Jeremy was severely injured in a motorcycle accident that left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

Despite many challenges, Jeremy graduated from Cardinal High School in 1996 and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Human and Correctional Services at Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio. He also earned an Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Kent State University.

Jeremy loves Civil War history and was himself a rebel with a cause. His cause was to work with young people who needed guidance. Desiring a warmer climate, Jeremy moved to North Carolina, where he was invited to live with his southern “adopted” parents, the Rev. Jerry Sanders and the late Mrs. Kaye Sanders. He worked as a Group Home Manager caring for and advising five wonderful young men.

Finally, Jeremy moved with his parents and service dog Bear to Florida in December 2021.

Jeremy is survived by his parents, Michael and Yvonne Patterson, now of Middlefield; brother, Michael Jr.; several sweet nieces and nephews; cousins; aunts and uncles; many wonderful friends and co-workers; his loyal service dog Bear; and his extra special girlfriend, Brenda.

Those waiting to welcome Jeremy hone were his loving grandparents, John and Iris Patterson, Melvin (Tim) and Luella Young, and James Szemenyei; his southern “Mama” Mrs. Kaye Sanders; also his dear Uncle Dan Patterson; his fun-loving Uncle Randy Semenyei; his sweet cousin Randy Szemenyei Jr.; and his rescue dog Axel.

Jeremy had been an avid NASCAR fan. Any donations made in his memory can be sent to Victory Junction, 4500 Adam’s Way, Randleman, NC 27317. It is a NASCAR-themed camp where children with serious medical conditions can enjoy the best week of their lives at no cost to them. You can read about this special, amazing place and their heart-warming story at www.victoryjunction.org.

In order to honor Jeremy’s wishes, as he stated in his will, there will be no funeral service or calling hours.

However, he will never be forgotten.
