John D. Borsi Jr.
John D. Borsi Jr., 89, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 16, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, he lived with his parents on Parkhill Road until they moved to the family farm on Cedar Road in 1941.
John graduated from Newbury High School, class of 1954. He married Janet Blasko in 1958 at Newbury Community Church. That same year they built their forever home on Cedar Road in Munson Township, Ohio.
While working at Cleveland Twist Drill alongside his father and uncles, to further his career, John attended Fenn College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering. After retirement from Cleveland Twist Drill, he consulted for Associated Enterprises in Painesville, Ohio.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Janet L. Borsi (nee Blasko); son Gary (Dawn) Borsi and son Craig (Donna) Borsi, both of Newbury Township, Ohio. Grandchildren include Craig Molnar, Anna, James, Kevin, Kayla and Kurtis Borsi; and two great-grandchildren, Lennon and Valerie Borsi. He is also survived by his sister, Esther Westfall, from Grand Island, N.Y.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John D. Borsi Sr. and Irene Borsi (nee Bottger); his daughter, Janell Borsi; and son Christopher Borsi.
John was never one to sit around. During the 1970s he was a volunteer fireman for Munson Township, rising through the ranks to the position of assistant chief. For nine years, he coached Munson Little League Baseball, where he was a favorite amongst players and parents.
He was also active with the Boy Scouts, attending and helping with many scouting functions, mentoring his sons and the other scouts, as well as sponsoring an annual campout on his farm in Newbury.
Outdoors is where you would often find John, whether working on the farm, splitting endless amounts of firewood, maintaining his yard at home or mowing numerous acres at the farm — a requirement he embraced.
John was an avid snowmobiler, buying his first in 1967. He and his wife owned many machines over the years. He took his last ride around the farm with his long-time friend Wayne Mansfield.
John was a member of the Pleasant Hills Snowmobile Club and the Newbury Snowmobile Club. He had many family snowmobile adventures across many states.
When the snow was gone, he turned his attention to another passion, fishing. He was a fantastic walleye fisherman, owned several boats and knew the western basin of Lake Erie like no other.
After the boats were gone, John turned his focus back to farming. He was known for his sweet corn, growing possibly the best in Geauga County. Locals would eagerly wait for his corn stand to go up each summer.
He was a devoted family man and a great father, always taking an interest in and being a part of his children’s activities. Just to name a few, scuba diving with Craig, rabbit hunting with Chris, golfing with Gary or riding horses with Janell — he was always there. We were blessed to have him. He will be missed.
