Leo Allen Jr.

Leo Allen Jr. went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 9, 2025.

He was the last survivor of the seven children of Leo Allen Sr. and Edna Nealey Allen, of Tabor City, N.C.

He will be missed by his wife of 57 years, Edith Gaylord Allen; his sons, Rod (Terrie), David (Michele); and his joy, two beautiful, talented granddaughters, Carlee D’Lynn and Cailin Jordan “CJ” Allen.

He is also survived by his sister-and brother-in-law, Billie and Don Kleve; and many nephews, nieces and their families in Wilmington, N.C, Grove City, Ohio, Erie, Pa., and Wickliffe, Ohio.

Leo lived a full and successful life. He was the first in his family to graduate from high school.

He served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during the Cuban Missile Crisis and then the assassination of President Kennedy.

He worked for the City of Columbus (OH) Division of Construction for 30 years, as an on-site representative on large road and bridge projects, the Columbus Convention Center and, finally, the demolition of the old Ohio Penitentiary.

Leo was a licensed scuba diver, an accomplished sailor and held a private pilot’s license. He was also an excellent cook, a carpenter and loved to dance.

Many thanks to Linda Ehrenbeit and Amelia Diczhazy for their care and support; to Arden Courts and Geauga County Department on Aging; and to our neighbors in the Woods at Auburn Lakes for your support during his final journey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chardon. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com.
