Lillian Doris Gibbons

Lillian Doris Gibbons (née Rarick), of Auburn Township, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at the age of 96.

Born on June 30, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Louis J. and Eleanor (née Sebesta) Rarick, Lillian lived a vibrant life filled with creativity, service and joy.

Early on, Lillian was an avid theater enthusiast, performing dramatic roles and producing shows as a member of the Broadway Methodist Church Dramatic Club and the Maple Heights Little Theater.

Her passion for gardening and flowers led her to establish her own floral business, Flowers by Lil, after working as a floral designer at Broadway Floral in Bedford, Ohio.

Lillian later pursued nursing, attending the Marymount School of Practical Nursing in Garfield Heights, Ohio, and earning her license as a Practical Nurse.

In her later years, she founded a senior citizen a cappella vocal group that brought music and smiles to fellow seniors throughout Geauga County.

Lillian is survived by her son, Gregory (Jana) Gibbons; her daughter, Wendy (Bryan) Komlos; her granddaughter, Rachel (Shawn) Bail; and her great-grandchildren Finn, Pippa and Carmen Bail.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George E. Gibbons; her parents, Louis J. and Eleanor Rarick; her brothers, Louis Rarick Jr.; and Leonard J. Rarick; and her sister, Louise B. Pewton.

A graveside service will be held this summer. The date and time of service will be posted on the funeral home website when scheduled.

Arrangements are entrusted to The Original Burr Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.burrservice.com.
