Mary Farmwald

She was born on Oct. 31, 1937, to the late Freeman and Fannie (nee Miller) Schmucker.
She was married to the love of her life, Robert Farmwald, and is together with him in heaven now. She had been married to Bob for 61 years until he passed away on July 21, 2018.
Mary was blessed by God with six children: Patricia (Edward) Marchiny, Sandra (Bryan) Wunsch, Janice (Thomas) Farmer, Marilyn (Kip) Green, Robert Michael Farmwald and Heather (Dave) Fisher.
The Lord also blessed her with eight gifted grandchildren: Anthony Marchiny,
Stephanie Green, Aaron Marchiny, Jacob Green, Caleb Green, Fionna Fisher, Hannah Marchiny and Simon Fisher.
She is also survived by her sister, Irene Miller, of West Farmington, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Sally (Ervin) Miller, of Onaway, Mich.; and her brother-in-law, James (Edna) Farmwald, of Huntsburg Township, Ohio. She is also survived by hundreds of nieces, nephews and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Mary (and Bob) were faithful members of Huntsburg Baptist church for over 60 years where she served as sixth-grade Sunday school teacher, AWANA leader and a member of the Ladies Missionary Society.
Mary cherished her time with her family. She enjoyed having them over for dinner on Sundays, birthdays and holidays. She loved watching her grandchildren grow up and often babysat them. She often attended their sporting events, school events, piano recitals and church events—she was their loudest cheerleader!
Mary enjoyed playing games, doing puzzles and looking at pictures and reminiscing about the past. She faithfully sent birthday cards with lots of pictures to her children and grandchildren. She encouraged them to stay close to Jesus and let them know she was praying for them.
Mary was an avid reader. She loved reading her Bible and other Christian books and magazines. She was a big Indians/Guardians fan. She and Bob had season tickets to many home games.
She and Bob also traveled extensively to Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and many states out west. Her favorite trips were to the Outer Banks with her kids and grandkids.
She wrote recently her greatest joy lay in the warmth of family and friends gathered together around her. Mary was friendly and kind and quickly became friends with everyone she met. She was loved by so many and will be missed by so many.
Mary often said (especially as her disease progressed) she was ready to go home to heaven to be with Jesus. Her life was marked by her commitment to serving Jesus, loving her family and by moments of joy and laughter with those she held dear.
She will be remembered fondly by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her greatest desire was that all her family and friends would join her in heaven some day.
A private burial for family is scheduled for Feb. 24, 2026, at Slitor Cemetery and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 a.m., at Huntsburg Baptist Church, with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, Mary requested donations be made to Huntsburg Baptist Church. Her family requests that donations also be made to Hospice of Western Reserve and Rescue Village in Russell Township, Ohio.
Sly Family Funeral Home assisted her family with arrangements. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family at www.slyffh.com.
