Nancy A. Emerson

Nancy A. Emerson, 96, a lifelong resident of Burton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, with family by her side.

In April 1947, she married the love of her life, Roy F. Emerson, sharing joys and tribulations for 54 years as they raised their three children. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Nancy was a devoted member of Burton Congregational Church, UCC. She volunteered for the Good Samaritan Dinners, was a member of the Scrappers, sewing lap quilts to be distributed wherever there was a need, from Hattie Larlham to an orphanage in Ukraine. Her love of sewing extended to her being a 4-H advisor to the Burton Kloth Klippers.

She was a voracious reader and always had a book sitting next to her favorite chair. Nancy’s finest qualities were her warmth, kindness and her capacity for friendship as evidenced by the many people who cared deeply for her.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Kathy Burg (m. Kevin Budd), Beth Campbell, (m. Jack Brezina) and Jeffrey Emerson (m. Kari Schmidt); grandchildren, Jessica Budd, Stephanie (Caleb) Steindam, Katie Campbell, Tyler Emerson, Elizabeth (Clinton) Coleman, Jessica Burg, John (Allison) Emerson; and great-grandchildren, C.J., Michael and Elaina. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, John Gallagher and Helen Gallagher Tyler; and her sister, Patricia McFarlane.

A private family burial will take place at Welton Cemetery in Burton. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Burton Congregational Church, UCC, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nancy’s name to the Burton Public Library, 14588 W. Park St., Burton, OH 44021.
