Nancy Lynn Ostovic

Nancy Lynn Ostovic (nee Johnson), age 72, a 48-year resident of Chardon, died Dec. 14, 2022, at her home.

She was born Sept. 7, 1950, to Leonard S. and Betty Dean (nee Fouts) Johnson, in Cleveland.

Nancy was a graduate of James Ford Rhodes High School, Class of 1968, and Kent State University, Class of 1972 with a B.S. degree in Deaf Education.

She married Michael Ostovic on Aug. 5, 1972.

Nancy first taught in the Deaf Education program for the Mayfield City Schools. After raising her children, Nancy worked for many years in the Special Needs Preschool Program for the Geauga

County Education Service Center. After that, she worked for nine years at the former Rosepointe Cottage Tea Room in Chardon.

She was a longtime, faithful member of the Chardon United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Cantoria Choir, including playing clarinet for numerous performances. She, along with her husband Mike, loved playing in the Hand Bell choir as well.

She was active in the church youth groups, Worship Committee and United Methodist Women.

Nancy loved family and lived life to the fullest. One of her favorite things to do was travel to see her grandchildren in their numerous activities and spend time with her family. She was a light to everyone she met.

Survivors include her husband; son, Derrak (Melanie) Ostovic, of Gainesville, Fla.; daughter, Mindy (Jake) Gargasz, of Carmel, Ind.; and grandsons, Jackson and Evan Ostovic, and MJ and Mason Gargasz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sandra Rath.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North St., Chardon, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. and following the service.

Although Nancy enjoyed flowers, especially daisies, she requested donations to the Chardon United Methodist Choirs.
