Patricia Ann Laubenthal
Patricia “Patty” Ann Laubenthal, age 62, passed away suddenly at home Nov. 4, 2025.
She was the daughter of Janet (nee Hall) and her late husband, Bruno Kurapka, and sister to Duane Kurapka, Carol Sever and Cathy Kurapka. Patty was the wife of Raymond F. Laubenthal and loving mother of Ryan, Julia and Steven (Becca); and grandmother to Rien and Miles.
Patty grew up in Newbury Townshiop, Ohio, and graduated from Newbury High School. She then went on to study nutrition at Case Western Reserve University, where she met Ray. They married after graduation and she spent her early years as a registered dietitian.
Patty and Ray shared many wonderful years together, raising their family in Chardon, Ohio. Last month, Patty and Ray happily celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Patty cherished spending time with her family. Family and close friends knew Patty as a very loving, giving and caring person. She often would plan entire travel trips and gatherings for family and loved ones just for the pleasure of being with them.
At home, she loved gardening; she grew bushels of blueberries, fruits and vegetables. The family was always requesting one of her homemade pies or apple cakes to have at gatherings.
Patty was perceptive, wise and intelligent and she added her love and magic to everything she did. She was skilled at crafting delight and enabling those around her to be their best.
The tremendous outpouring of love and support from family and friends has brought us comfort during this difficult time, and we are incredibly thankful. Patty will live in our hearts and memories forever.
We will miss her so much.
Visitation will be held Nov. 11, 2025, from 4-7 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.
