Ronald Lee Johnson
Ronald Lee Johnson, age 88, of Chardon, passed away Dec. 22, 2024, at Maplewood Senior Living.
Born May 19, 1936, in New Castle, Pa., to Everett and Hannah (nee: Kirkwood) Johnson, Chardon was Ron’s home for the past 44 years.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. He enjoyed sharing his love of nature with his family.
He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Ron joins his beloved wife, Eleanor, of 58 years in heaven.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Pohto, of Chardon, Ruth Johnson, of Sunbury, Deborah (Stephen) Belliveau, of Chardon, and Carol (Troy) Rosiak, of Avon Lake; son, Ronald (Melissa) Johnson Jr., of Chester Township; grandchildren, Justin (Chelsea), Larry (Sasi), Amberlea (Joseph), Jessica (Alex), Sandra (Patrick), Ashley (Trevor), Daniel, Jonathan (Devina), Haley (Nicolas), Madolynn (George), Troy Jr., Emily and Travis; great-grandchildren, Tenley, Logan, Titus, Winston, Dean, Taelyn, Eleanor, Vivian, Josephine and Ayla; brother, Martin (Jean) Johnson, of Rock Creek; and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Betty, Everett, Hazel, Ralph and Charles.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024, at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 28, 2024, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Ron spent much time in the Geauga County park system and loved to walk the many trails. In lieu of flowers, donations to Geauga Parks and Recreation Department would honor his legacy (geaugaparkdistrict.org).
