Susan Louise Schoeppler

Susan Louise Schoeppler, 74, of Newport News, Va., passed away on May 11, 2026.

She was born on July 4, 1951, in East Lansing, Mich., to Jake and Vi Schoeppler (née Vipond).

Susan graduated from Hanover Park High School in New Jersey and moved to Bass Lake with her family in 1969.

She graduated from Michigan State University in 1973 and enlisted in the United States Army. She served as a Captain on active duty in the U.S. and Germany and subsequently worked for 25 years with the civil service at Forts Monroe and Eustis in Virginia.

Susan’s life was rich with deep friendships and relationships. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to places including England and Scotland, Germany and throughout Europe, exploring her heritage.

One of her great joys in life came from her beloved dogs, Tiger, Cozy, Rover, Huckleberry and Shandi.

Susan was a rare combination of quick wit and deep empathy; she could make anyone laugh, yet she always took the time to truly listen. Her kindness and generosity made her a natural friend to all.
