Theodore Herrick

BURTON – Theodore “Ted” Herrick, age 85, of Burton, died Jan. 17, 2015, at University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center. He had been battling illness and died peacefully.

Ted was a retired school teacher who also had his own business servicing microscopes for many area schools.

He was a Korean War veteran.

Ted took care of his wife, Nancy, while she was treated for cancer, until she passed away in 2002.

In between dealing with his health issues, Ted created many new friends while volunteering at Holden Arboretum, attending Burton Congregational Church, going to Burton Public Library and helping the Berkshire basketball teams.

Ted also was a big Cleveland Indians fan, always hoping this would be the year they won it all. He enjoyed reading books, dogs, bowling and listening to others.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia; son, Howard (Beckie); grandchildren, Kristine and Michael; and sister, Betty.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mildred; and brothers, Carl and Robert.

The family asks that friends make contributions to Burton Congregational Church, Burton Public Library or Geauga Humane Society.

Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Friends and family will gather from 4-6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the funeral home.
