Timothy William Milliff

Timothy William Milliff, age 68, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Dec. 12, 2023.

Known by those that cared for him as Bill, he was the first born to William and Virginia (nee Pecek) Milliff in September of 1955, and was raised in a close family with his five siblings in Willowick, Ohio. He did well in school and was often noted as a sensitive and thoughtful child.

At a young age, Bill took on some added responsibility, but at that time had also discovered he truly enjoyed learning how mechanical or electrical things worked. By his Willowick High School graduation, he had already taught himself to repair or rebuild most things on his own.

During his youth, he could be found working at the gas station or parts store, fixing someone’s car or drag racing with his buddies on the weekend.

Bill was introduced to Donna at his own birthday party, and they were married in March of 1979. They started their family in Chardon, then relocated to a spacious fixer-upper on a wooded lot in Montville Township in 1986. With the added space they made a home perfect for raising kids and spending the rest of their lives.

Bill was always rich in love and it was typical for him to build or easily rebuild the cool things he and his family wanted over the years.

Bill earned his electronics engineering degree at ETI Technical College in 1976 and enjoyed applying it to a career in research and development for many years before retiring in 2014. He enjoyed working for small start-up companies best, because he valued a design challenge and enjoyed the managerial freedom typically found there.

Bill was a do-it-yourselfer at heart and believed with a little research, calculated thought and patience, a person could figure out how to do almost anything themselves. He taught and encouraged his children to do their own basic repairs and maintenance.

He felt one should always help others when they can and doing the honest and right thing was always well worth the added time it took to get it done. He will be missed by the many people that relied on him for his kind and logical advice.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Pecek and William Milliff; siblings Michael Milliff and Robert Milliff; and his beloved wife, Donna (nee Cutchall) Milliff.

He is survived by his daughters, Nicole (Jeremy) and Linda; son, Brian (Audrey); grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Nolan, Fiona, Alistair and Navaeh; siblings Jackie, Rick and Laurie; a number of nieces and nephews; and an ever-growing number of great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family will receive friends Dec. 15, 2023, from 4-7 p.m., at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., Chardon.

Graveside service will be held Dec. 23, 2023, at 11 a.m., at Chardon Municipal Cemetery.
