W. Charles Nichols II

W. Charles “Chuck” Nichols II, a cherished son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away from natural causes on Nov. 20, 2025, in Middlefield, Ohio.

Born on April 11, 1961, in Akron, Ohio, Chuck’s zest for life and entrepreneurial spirit touched many throughout his 64 years.

Chuck’s early career began at Burton Rubber Processing in Burton, Ohio, in the late 1970s. His ambitious nature and business acumen led him to partner with his father, William C. Nichols, in founding Polychem Dispersions in Middlefield, Ohio, in 1980. Over the years, under Chuck’s leadership as COO and president, along with the help of his brother, Jeff, sister, Lynda, and many valuable long-time employees and business associates, Polychem grew into a renowned international corporation specializing in polymer-based compounds and dispersions. Chuck’s commitment to excellence and innovation was evident in every facet of the business until his retirement in March of this year.

In addition to his impressive professional accomplishments, Chuck was deeply involved in his local and business communities. He was a member of the NE Ohio American Chemical Society Rubber Division for more than 35 years. He was an active member of his homeowner’s association, taking pride in his Middlefield neighborhood, where he and a close-knit group of neighbors created a caring and watchful community.

His support for Geauga County’s first responders was unwavering as was his love for politics and the local businesses in Middlefield and Burton.

Chuck’s interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was often seen strolling through the town with his beloved dogs, Ruger, Baretta and Kimber, forming a familiar and welcoming presence.

His love of the outdoors led him to be a passionate gun collector and an avid gardener. The pride he had for his roses and vegetable garden became a sight to behold each season. His green thumb brought beauty and bounty not only to his home but also to the lives of those around him who were often recipients of his harvests.

Chuck had a love of snowmobiling. He would talk endlessly about his long trips with friends throughout the Canadian wilderness, sometimes riding for hundreds of miles across lakes and into wooded landscapes.

Preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Nichols, and his loyal companions, Ruger and Baretta, Chuck leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. He is survived by his father, William (Bill) C. Nichols; sisters, Lynda (Michael) Koszewski and Marjorie (Steve) Sarantos; brother, Jeffrey (Sandra) Nichols; and nephews, Daniel (Erin Koppy) Rerko, Benjamin Sarantos and Eric Sarantos.

His passing leaves a void in the hearts of his family, friends and all who knew him.

Chuck’s life was one of purpose, generosity and unwavering dedication to his loved ones and community. His memory will be cherished and kept alive through the countless lives he touched.

As we bid farewell to W. Charles “Chuck” Nichols II, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of accomplishments, kindness and an enduring spirit that will forever be remembered.
