Enhanced Safety and Security

Thanks to a grant that was written, submitted and awarded to Berkshire Junior/Senior High School, the Berkshire Local Schools will be deploying new and advanced protocols and technologies to enhance staff and student safety. Starting with the fourth quarter of the school year, the district will use the Raptor System, a new technology being implemented to improve safety, manage custody issues, coordinate volunteers and screen out sex offenders from the buildings.

The Raptor System is one of the nation’s leading providers of integrated school safety technology. Most visibly, the public is likely to see an enhancement in uniform procedures for visitors who enter district buildings, volunteer screening for those wishing to help the students and how the district reacts in emergency situations.

Stay tuned for more information about the Raptor System and how it will be incorporated into everyday staff and student life in the Berkshire Local Schools. The safety and security of students and staff is the district’s top priority.

Geauga County Jobs Fair

Berkshire Junior/Senior High School will be host to the Geauga County Jobs Fair on April 11 for students from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Jobs Fair is sponsored by Ohio Means Jobs, a state-sponsored initiative designed to provide the future workforce in Ohio the opportunity to practice interview, obtain valuable internships, seek scholarships and uncover countless resources for career planning.

The event will be the first of its type in all of Geauga County. Thus far, the jobs fair is slated to host approximately 50 area businesses and corporate entities together with whom students will have the opportunity to meet, engage and develop relationships. Some of them include: Component Repair Technologies, Windsor House, Inc., Ohio Laborers Training and Apprenticeship, the Geauga County Engineers Office, Centerra Co-Op, Universal Polymer and Rubber and Duramax Marine.

The Jobs Fair will be hosted in the gymnasium. The general public is invited from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Berkshire Local Schools extends its gratitude to Ohio Means Jobs for its desire to partner with the school district to help provide an important opportunity for students.
