Students Participate in Math Essay Contest
Burton Elementary School is of proud sixth-grade students, Dakota Carver and Elaine Kartley, who recently participated in a contest sponsored by the Association for Women in Mathematics and Math for America.
The essays they wrote were based on personal Zoom interviews carefully planned for and coordinated with women currently working in mathematical careers. Dakota interviewed Dr. Christelle Vincent from Wisconsin and Elaine interviewed Dr. Abdellafif, who lives in France.
The experience the young ladies had in interviewing seasoned women in roles of great significance helps to advance the project based learning approach that abounds in the Berkshire Local Schools. Congratulations to Dakota and Elaine for their participation and superb work.
