Global Pen Pals
Students at Berkshire Junior/Senior High School have engaged in a unique and global correspondence with a similar grouping of students at a secondary school in Uganda on the African continent. Inspired by the summer reading assignment entitled “I Will Always Write Back” written by two individuals, one from the United States and one from Zimbabwe, Berkshire students have been given the yearlong assignment to research Uganda and then write a pen pal letter to an assigned student. Berkshire learners recently received returned correspondence from their global friends prompting a great deal of excitement.
Special congratulations to Maria Koler and Lynn Hunter for overseeing the assignment and encouraging the students to truly think and learn in a worldwide environment about students of a similar age in a different part of the world.
