Lions Qualify for States
Following strong performances at the Youngstown regional meet, five members of NDCL’s track and field team have qualified to compete in the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s State Track and Field Tournament at The Ohio State University on June 3 and 4.
Junior Brian Bates earned his state berth by taking second place in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:55.86.
The 4×400-meter relay team of seniors Tim Herczog and Andrew Ryan and juniors Javon King and Danny Yanick will join Brian on the trip to Columbus after posting a fourth-place regional meet finish of 3:24.60 – a new school record for the event.
Visit the OHSAA website for complete coverage of the state tournament, including live-streaming of running events.
Diaper Drive Wraps Up
Thanks to the initiative and leadership of junior Victoria Baioni during exam week, the NDCL community collected a mountain of diapers for mothers and babies in need.
Victoria proposed the diaper drive as a peaceful but powerful way of making a difference for women and children in the midst of the political turmoil resulting from the recently leaked Supreme Court draft opinion regarding Roe v. Wade.
