Lions Lend a Hand

Students and campus ministers grabbed paint buckets, rollers and brushes last week to transform a little part of the world – one barn at a time – by lending a hand with painting projects at Hiram Farm.

Hiram Farm Living and Learning Community is a nonprofit organization that since 2009 has provided services for adults with developmental disabilities, with an emphasis on autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Farm provides opportunities for these adults to grow, learn, work and live in a setting focused on respect and support for individuals and the environment.

NDCL is exploring an ongoing partnership with Hiram Farms as it looks to expand students’ service and solidarity experiences, which currently include the Labre Ministry with the poor and homeless, L’Arche Ministry with special needs adults and Joseph of Arimathea Society that provides pall bearers for those with no one to carry them to their final place of rest.
