Interfaith Panel Discussion

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin’s faith and justice class hosted esteemed leaders of various faith communities and engaged the students in a conversation about the importance of interfaith communication and action. The panel encouraged the students to embrace experiences that allow them to think, reflect and question society.

Leaders included Rev. David Cobb, senior pastor at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cleveland; Rev. Robin Craig, retired Presbyterian minister working with several churches on mental health and interfaith issues; Rabbi Matt Eisenberg, rabbi for Temple Israel Ner Tamid in Beachwood; Sister Jacquelyn Gusdane, SND, who is involved in the Catholic Charities Migration & Refugee Services and The Refugee Response; Rev. Napoleon Harris, the senior pastor of the historic Antioch Baptist Church in Cleveland; and Imam Ramez Islambouli, adjunct professor of Islamic law at the Law School at Case, and the president of MACE Islamic Center in Richmond Heights.

Eucharistic Revival Rally and Mass

On Nov. 1, the entire NDCL community joined over 3,000 students from Catholic high schools across the diocese for the Eucharistic Revival Rally and Mass at Cleveland Public Auditorium. The event included inspirational speakers, a worship music performance by Damascus Worship and Mass with Bishop Edward Malesic. NDCL seniors Lucy Joyce and Anthony Roach served on the Diocesan Youth Advisory Council that helped to envision, organize and lead the very special event.

“It was amazing to see high school students from different backgrounds and communities come together in unity and faith to celebrate the Eucharist,” said Roach.

In reflecting on this schoolwide experience, Principal Jodie Ricci remarked, “The opportunity to be a part of a Catholic school where young people are grounded in the Word of God is truly a blessing. I am so grateful for our students and the many ways that they reflect God’s light and strength. They give me great hope for the future.”
