Holiday Homecoming Celebration
NDCL’s “Home for the Holidays” Homecoming packed a year’s worth of holiday celebrations into one fun-filled, high-spirited week of games, treats and special surprises, culminating with a visit from Santa on Friday during lunch.
The building became a holiday calendar come to life as Student Activities Board members decorated almost every inch of each corridor with a different holiday theme, including Halloween, Easter, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Saint Patrick’s Day, Thanksgiving, New Year’s Eve and the Lunar New Year.
Special thanks to senior Kelly McGraw, president of the Student Activities Board; math teacher Ericka Bella; Director of Student Leadership Ben Lozar ’09; Director of Campus Ministry Halle McKeon; social studies teacher Lexie Danch ’15; and English teacher Maura McGinty-O’Hara for their energetic and creative leadership of student activities.
Teacher Selected for Online Broadcast
Molly Schneider, social studies department chairperson, was among a select group of educators chosen from schools across the nation to participate in an online Constitution Day Live broadcast sponsored by the Bill of Rights Institute.
“Our conversation focused on teaching the Constitution along with the ideas of civil discourse, compromise, unity, trust and the concept of what is means to be ‘together’ in our democracy,” Schneider explained.
In 2018, Mrs. Schneider was one of 53 teachers in the entire country – and the only one from Ohio – to win the prestigious and highly competitive James Madison Foundation Memorial Fellowship, which recognizes distinguished teachers by enhancing their knowledge of American constitutional government so that they can take the lead in educating secondary school students about the nation’s constitutional heritage.
